Jatkos Oy is a family business that works in close partnership with Varkauden Puu Oy and operates on the same site. The company\u2019s main role is to bale and sell the around 100 m\u00b3 of planer shavings generated every day as a by-product of our production. Most of the shavings are sold to farms as animal bedding and eventually returned to nature as fertilizer. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

At Jatkos, the shavings are baled semi-automatically to ensure they are not compressed too tightly. This makes them easy to spread and ensures that the bales are user-friendly. The shavings are sold in approx. 23 kg bales, available both by pallet and individually. <\/p>\n\n<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\n\n

Jatkos Oy Minimizes Waste <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

By transforming wood by-products into valuable secondary materials, Jatkos contributes to a circular economy where nothing goes to waste. Baling planer shavings is an excellent example of responsible by-product utilization in the wood industry. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The closed-loop process \u2013 from dry wood shavings to animal bedding and even further to decomposed soil enrichment \u2013 reduces environmental impact all while supporting sustainable forestry and farming practices. The use of wood by-products helps lower carbon emissions and effectively reduce waste created in making planed wood products. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
